Read the following carefully and choose whether to accept the terms of this computing account.
System Requirements:
  • Full Access to the CISER Computing Systems is via Remote Desktop and requires that the user have Windows XP Pro, Windows 2003, Vista. Mac and Linux users with Remote Desktop clients may also access our systems, but will not be able to use the CISER VPN. (Other methods of transferring files are available for those users, however.)
CISER Systems Use Policy:
  • The use of CISER computing resources is for academic research only.
  • Our statistical software and CISER Data Archive files may not be used for private consulting or for non-academic research.
  • Users may not make or distribute copies of licensed software from our systems to any other persons.
  • Users may not distribute copies of files from the CISER Data Archive to anyone not directly affiliated with Cornell University, nor for any purposes other than academic research.
  • The CISER file server may not be used for personal e-mail, audio or video file storage, nor backup of your personal computers or non-research files.
  • It is the responsibility of every CISER account holders to keep CISER appraised of any changes to the information provided in your account application, including change in affiliated faculty member, academic status, and your contact information.
  • Any files left on the CISER file server after an account has been closed will be made available to the affiliated faculty advisor if requested, and then will be deleted.
  • Misuse of computing resources, proprietary software, and data violates the Cornell University Campus Code of Conduct and the Policy Regarding Abuse of Computers and Network Systems.
  • By applying for an account and using CISER computing resources, you acknowledge all of the policies above and agree to adhere to them.
